CASTING CALL – MALE ACTOR TO PLAY LADY MACBETH
The Quill & Dagger Theatre Company is looking for a talented English-speaking male comic actor to play Lady Macbeth in our production of Macbeth – A Bloody Good Comedy.
The Role
We’re looking for a performer capable of performing in Quill & Dagger’s signature silent-movie acting style: cartoonishly large but emotionally honest, never relying on drag or parody, but with a strong sense of the silly. Age between 30-45. A taller actor is preferred, as the visual dynamic between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth is an important part of the production, but actors of any height will be considered.
This part, like all the roles in the show, can be a star turn for the right actor. However, while Lady Macbeth may be a diva, the actor should enjoy being a cooperative member of our fun, mutually supportive ensemble.
The Production
Macbeth – A Bloody Good Comedy is a wildly comic reimagining of Macbeth that delights in theatrical excess while remaining emotionally truthful to Shakespeare’s story.
Following a successful tryout and premiere, every performance to date has sold out, earning spontaneous standing ovations. Our next engagement is being discussed for mid-October at Mike’s Badhuistheater, and we hope that’s just the beginning.
The Company
The production is unpaid, but great comedy doesn’t happen by accident. The rehearsal process is rigorous, the standards are high, and we’re looking for actors who love audiences and want to delight them.
Although we’re now casting for this production, we’re also hoping to meet actors who share our enthusiasm for creating unusual, highly theatrical work and would enjoy collaborating on future Quill & Dagger productions.
